A Stockport mum will be doing battle with some of the country’s leading wordsmiths when she appears in the hit TV show Countdown.
Tracey Mills, 43, won eight consecutive shows last year and qualified for the ‘Champion of Champions’ final with a second place in the grand final. She faces 15 other champions in the ultimate challenge of literacy and numeracy skills.
Her appearance is all the more remarkable as she does not have GCSE qualifications at either Maths or English! She is in the middle of afoundation course at Stockport College and intends to take the exams next year. She eventually hopes to study a degree in criminology and work in the probabtion service.
She initially appeared on the show 12 years ago but left winless.
The shows have been pre-recorded by Channel 4 and all contestants have been sworn to secrecy. They will be aired on January 7th.
