Stockport Council has marked the completion of its purchase of Merseyway by securing four retailers within the shopping centre, with negotiations with a number of other existing occupiers also nearing completion.
New Look, Ann Summers, Roman Originals and Lashious Beauty have all signed new leases that will see them remain in Merseyway alongside the centres other stores.
Councillor Kate Butler, Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council said: “This is an exciting time for Stockport with the Council working to transform our town centre, support existing business and attract new investment into our borough. It’s also important to note that the purchase of Merseyway didn’t cost local taxpayers a penny.
‘’The success of Merseyway is central to unlocking the potential of Stockport and ensuring that our town is at the forefront of retail in the region.”
Ben Moorhouse, Asset Management Director at CBRE commented: “The Investing in Growth programme within the town centre and future proposed development of Merseyway will continue to improve perception and increase the profile of Stockport to help attract new retailers and further investment into the town.”
