A Heald Green cancer charity shop has been left reeling after a heartless burglary.
Thieves broke into the shop on Finney Lane in Heald Green and made off with £500 in cash as well as jewellery and clothing.
They also left thousands of pounds of damage behind after trashing the shop.
The cash was taken in a safe which was ripped from the wall.
Angela Gray, the fundraising manager at Beechwood, which supports people living with cancer and their families, said: “We are absolutely devastated about the break in at our shop in Heald Green.
“Not only is it saddening that people’s kind donations have been taken but the cost of repairs will run into the thousands.
“The shop will have to remain closed while a team of volunteers try to tidy up and workmen fix the damage. I can’t believe that anyone would do this.”
The shop asked for volunteers to help with the clear up in order for them to reopen as soon as possible.
Police have requested that anyone who has any information on the incident call 101.
