Key Dates Announced By Cheadle Civic Society


Cheadle Civic Society  has released some dates for your diary over the coming months:
Sunday, April 22.
The Big Cheadle Spring Clean.
(Volunteers sought to help keep Cheadle tidy. Meet at Massie Street Car Park (behind Sainsbury’s). 11.30 – 12.30.
Saturday, May 5.
Makers’ Market on Cheadle Green.
Another great opportunity to enjoy the excellent variety of food and crafts provided by many local people. 10 – 4
Wednesday, May 9.
Cheadle Civic Society AGM. Start time: 7.30pm
Meet the committee and come and learn what is being planned for the future.
The AGM also includes a talk about the history of Bullocks Coaches.
Bullocks are one of the oldest remaining family businesses in the village and the talk will provide a potted history of how they began as a local haulage company in the inter-wars years and then prospered as a bus and coach company in the second half of the 20th century, up to today, providing high-quality excursions across the country.
Ockleston Memorial re-launch event
The Civic Society has spent considerable resources on repairing the historic Ockleston Memorial over the past few years, as well as substantial further costs to move it to a new permanent position at the front of Cheadle Green.
The final stages of the renovation are scheduled to take place in the next few weeks and a special launch event is being planned for this summer to celebrate the return of this significant structure to the heart of the village.
It is hoped this will be a major event for Cheadle and an announcement will be made in due course.

Picnic in the Park.
A chance for local people of all ages to enjoy a wonderful day out in the beautiful surroundings of Abney Hall Park, with plenty of food stalls, entertainment and other activities on hand. 11 – 5.
