Local children in Bramhall are set to get a new play area after winning a grant funding appeal.
The play area in Lumb Lane Park will get a complete revamp following the award of £41,825 from funding body WREN.
The bid was launched by group The Friends of Lumb Lane Park and the money, awarded by WREN’s FCC Community Action Fund, will be used to completely regenerate the local park by resurfacing the playground and installing modern and exciting play equipment.
Friends of Lumb Lane chair Alejandra Solis explained “This project will provide a real boost to the people of Bramhall. It’s fantastic that WREN has awarded us this money and we’re really looking forward to our playground taking shape over the coming months.”
Councillor Sheila Bailey, Executive Member for Housing & Communities at Stockport Council, offered her congratulations. “This is a remarkable achievement for all those involved and an excellent example of partnership working between the Council and the local community. The value of good quality play provision cannot be underestimated”.
The money raised will be used to offer children of all ages and abilities the chance to have fun in a safe environment. The centrepiece will be a 3 – tower adventure unit, commissioned specially, featuring a slide, climbing nets, and fireman’s pole. A pendulum swing, 3 – seater rocker designed for younger children, and exhilarating skate ride will complete the new range of equipment soon to be installed.
