County To Back Council Foster Care Initiative

Stockport Council’s Fostering Service teamed up with Stockport County to share a love of football and promote local fostering.
Local fostering families were invited to several of the Stockport County home games during January.
The opportunity to visit a local football team was a new experience for some of the fostering families who went along and many of the children were excited as they had never been to a proper football match before.
As part of the fostering recruitment drive at the stadium, Stockport County has distributed local fostering leaflets in the match programme and has organised ground advertising opportunities to promote fostering to Stockport County’s fans and families.
Councillor Colin Foster, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Children and Family Services, said: “What a superb opportunity for our local families to witness a local football game and thanks to Stockport County for hosting our local foster carers and their families and helping to raise awareness of the excellent work foster carers do within our community.”
“The days were very successful and enjoyable for all the families involved.”
