Cheadle Hulme Rugby Star in Demand!

Cheadle Hulme young rugby star Sion Davenport is wanted by both England and Wales with trials for North Wales one week and the North of England the next.
The gritty 17-year-old who plays hooker for the powerful King’s School First XV on the strong Northern schools’ circuit moved to England from Merthyr Tydfil at the age of four and says the rugby community is just as strong in the North-West as it is back in Wales.
“I’ve been playing rugby at Manchester since I was just four-years-old and there is very strong rugby community here just as there is in Wales.”
He added: “It’s a great honour to be asked for trials by both the North of England and the North of Wales.”
Just to confuse the issue even more, Sion picked Aussie skipper Michael Hooper as his favourite player, but when pushed added: “Sam Warburton is a great home nations talent.”
King’s Head of Rugby Giles Hetherington said: “Sion is a talented academic as well as a strong sportsman and will almost certainly choose university life but it’s certainly a rare accolade to be wanted by both England and Wales.”
